RIE Homestay
Living with a Canadian family is an excellent and enjoyable way to experience Canadian culture and learn about a the local community.
RIE Homestays are managed and organized by the RIE homestay manager who is able to support students and host families throughout the homestay experience.

Placement with a local family within the city of Richmond

A private, furnished room with a bed, desk and window.

3 meals per day plus snacks

Assistance from the RIE homestay manager whenever needed
All homestay families are accessible to Richmond schools by public transit, bike or by walking. Each family is required to do an extensive criminal record check and are visited by the homestay manager to ensure the home is an appropriate fit for students.
Homestay Placement Process
Before being placed in a home, students will be sent a profile of the family that includes information on the number of children and/or pets in the home, family interests and pictures.
Students are encouraged to speak with their homestay family before leaving their home country to get to know each other.
