RIE Homestay

Home / Accommodation / RIE Homestay

Living with a Canadian family is an excellent and enjoyable way to experience Canadian culture and learn about the local community.

RIE Homestays are managed and organized by the RIE homestay program managers who can support students and host families throughout the homestay experience.

RIE Homestay includes:

  • Placement with a local family within the City of Richmond
  • An English-speaking environment
  • A private, furnished room with a bed, desk and window
  • 3 meals per day plus snacks
  • Assistance from the RIE homestay manager when needed

All homestay families are accessible to Richmond schools by public transit, bike or by walking. Each family is required to do an extensive criminal record check and is visited by the homestay manager to ensure the home is an appropriate fit for minor students.

Homestay Placement Process

Before arriving in Canada, students will be sent a profile of the family that includes pictures and information on age, profession, family interests, as well as the number of children and pets in the home

Students are encouraged to speak with their homestay family before arrival to get to know each other.

Application
Homestay placements will be organized after students from grade 8 to 12 have been accepted into our program.
