RIE Homestay

Home / Accommodation / RIE Homestay

Living with a Canadian host is an excellent and enjoyable way to experience Canadian culture and learn about the local community.

RIE Homestay accommodations are managed and organized by the RIE homestay program managers who can support students and hosts throughout the homestay experience.

RIE Homestay includes:

  • Placement with a Canadian(s) within the City of Richmond
  • An English-speaking environment
  • A private, furnished room with a bed, desk and window
  • 3 meals per day plus snacks
  • Assistance from the RIE homestay manager when needed

All homestay accommodation is accessible to Richmond schools by public transit, bike or by walking. Each host is required to do an extensive criminal record check and is visited by the homestay manager to ensure the home is an appropriate fit for minor students.

Homestay Placement Process

Before arriving in Canada, students will be sent a profile of their host that includes pictures and information on age, profession, interests, as well as the number of children and pets in the home (if any).

Students are encouraged to speak with their homestay before arrival to get to know each other.

Application
Homestay placements will be organized after students from grade 8 to 12 have been accepted into our program.
