Secondary School Program
Richmond has 10 secondary schools with a combined enrolment of approximately 11,000 Canadian students. Each school in Richmond offers students the opportunity to get a world-class education with BC certified teachers, international student coordinators, modern school facilities and an extensive range of course options.

The Richmond School District has 10 secondary schools (grades 8 to 12) for students to choose from.
Connections Program
Connections is an optional program offering after-school support for international students at Richmond public secondary schools.
Richmond schools have over 100 courses available for students. In addition to standard academic and technical courses, students in Grade 8 to 12 (ages 13 to 18) can also take the following:
- International Baccalaureate-Senior Years (IB-SYP) and International Baccalaureate-Middle Years Programmes (IB-MYP)
- Advanced Placement (AP) in Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Calculus, Art and more
- Information Technology
- Business
- Modern Languages (Spanish, French, Mandarin and Japanese)

After School Options
Richmond secondary schools can have up to 40 extra-curricular clubs for students to join.
Activities include music, drama, sports, leadership and other areas of personal interest and development. Clubs are a fantastic way for students to interact with others who share common interests, make new friends and enhance their Canadian education.

Required Documents
- A photo of the student taken in the last 12 months
- Copy of the student’s passport picture page or personal ID
- Certified or notarized School Records/Report Cards translated into English from the current and last year of study
- Picture page AND the signature page of parent’s passport or personal ID
- Signed Declaration of Eligibility
- Childhood vaccination record (preferably translated into English)
- $200CAD application fee (non-refundable)
Additional Documents (Optional)
- Recommendation letter from current teacher or principal
- Letter of Intent
- Awards and/or certificates in extracurricular activities
Accommodation Options
- Homestay arranged through the RIE Homestay Program (Grade 8 to 12 only) .
- Private Accommodation (not arranged through RIE). Students must live with a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who is 25 years of age or older.
