Short Term School Experience
Students who wish to immerse themselves in Canadian school culture, but cannot commit to a semester, can take our Short-Term School Experience Program. This program allows students to have an authentic school experience and develop English in a natural learning environment.
- Students will be given language support and be able to test out typical classes in a Canadian school.
- The program is open to students 13 to 18 or elementary students when accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
- Students will obtain a Completion Certificate at the end of their study program.
Program Overview
- Non-credit based program – students are placed in classes based on seat availability
- Grades: Kindergarten to 12
- Dates: Early October to Mid-June when space is available
- No entry in September or February
- Program Length: 1 to 4 months. Minimum program length – 4 weeks
- Students can start each Monday *RIE reserves the right to determine the program start and end date to comply with school district calendars and availability.
Application Information
Complete the online application with the following documents in PDF form. You will be asked to provide dates you wish the program to start and finish. Please note: Once the application has been approved, we require at least 4 weeks to process complete applications.
Required Documents
- A recent photo of the applicant taken in the last 12 months.
- Picture page of the applicant's Passport or Personal Identification.
- Picture page AND the signature page of the signing parent's Passport or Personal Identification.
- Signed Declaration of Eligibility.
- Signed and Notarized Declaration of Accompanying Elementary Student.
- $200 application fee (non-refundable)
*Applications are approved if all requirements are met, but placement is only guaranteed after review.
Accommodation Options
Secondary students have the option of choosing the RIE Homestay program if space allows. Elementary students must travel and live with a parent while in the program
